Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN)

Dr. Tracey Brown-Maher PMC Dermatology Clinic is a specialized Dermatology Practice that prioritizes excellent patient care. Dr Brown-Maher has both a Medical Dermatology Clinic and Clinical Trials and Research Clinic with patients travelling from all over Newfoundland and Labrador to be seen.
PURPOSE
Dr. Tracey Brown-Maher PMC is looking to add a full-time permanent Registered Nurse (RN) to our clinic in St. John’s. The ideal candidate for this role is self-motivated and has a strong interest in the Dermatology field. This individual is good multitasker and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The RN will be working under the direction of Dr. Tracey Brown-Maher.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Triage and assess patients with current skin diseases, such as - acne, psoriasis, eczema, skin cancer, atopic dermatitis, hair loss, skin infections, etc.
* Observe, assess, monitor, and document patient symptoms, reactions, and progress
* Perform basic medical procedures (including liquid nitrogen, injections), educate and inform patients about self-care, medication management, and disease prevention
* Council patients in a confidential manner on the details and risks of procedures and treatments
* Complete required paperwork for biologic and systemic drug therapies (enrolments, renewals, special authorizations, etc.)
* Receive additional training in biopsy, suturing, and removals before performing said procedures
* Be involved in an average of 25-30 patients in an 8-hour shift
* Follow clinic protocols to ensure no medical or clerical errors are made
* Communicate effectively within the medical team to ensure a cohesive team environment
* Participate in in-house and out of house training as required by the Doctor
* Responsible for sterilizing equipment, clean-up and cleanliness of treatment rooms
* Follow clinic procedures to ensure medical inventory is accurate and kept up to date with order of medical supplies
* Complete charting after each patient is seen and complete any necessary out-going referrals/testing orders
* Perform phlebotomy
* Perform other duties as requested by management and Doctor
* Assist with administrative duties as and when needed
REQUIREMENTS
* Successful completion of an approved Registered Nursing program, is required
* Active RN license in Newfoundland (CRNNL - College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland)
* Current BLS (CPR-HCP) certification, is required
* Minimum 1-2 years of recent experience working in the clinical setting (Hospital, Private Clinic, Nursing Home, etc), is required
* Able to perform phlebotomy (blood-draws), is required
QUALIFICATIONS
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to work as a team player and independently
* Experience using and TELUS Med Access EMR is considered an asset
* Current holder of the RN Prescriber, or willing to complete the course requirements, is considered an asset
* Provide a criminal records screening certificate/vulnerable sector check, if asked (required)
* Valid passport, as travel may be required for this position (required)
* Valid driver’s license and have access to personal vehicle (required)
Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required from time-to-time. We are looking for a long-term commitment from someone who is ready to learn and grow their career with our business.
Salary will range from $85,000 to $90,000 based on previous experience.
